Reflecting His Glory

I recently had to prepare a lesson on “Reflecting His Glory”.  Thankful for the opportunity to dig into this subject with all its challenges. Following are some excerpts.

What is glory? For Christians, the word turns our thoughts toward the God of heaven to whom all glory and honour belong.  When we glorify God, we draw attention to His greatness by our words and actions.

God created Adam and Eve to bear His image; they were intended to mirror Him in some ways.  So, mankind reflected the very glory of God!

Living in a perfect environment man and woman could do that.  But something went terribly wrong.  What 3 letter word do you think that is?  “SIN”

Dear child of God, the ultimate purpose of your existence is tied up in the glory of God. Indeed, God being glorified is the central issue, the premier purpose of the universe and all that has been done in it.

After Adam and Eve’s failure of obedience, their descendance plunged deeper into sin’s depths.  Their son Cain murdered his brother Able. By the time we get to Noah in Genesis 6…we see the wickedness of mankind.  So much for reflecting God’s glory!

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  Our only hope lies in the Son of God who perfectly brought glory to God.  In Him alone lies our hope!

But God did not toss us away as useless.  In His eternal purpose, He devised a way to restore us to glory.  As I am writing this article, I am reflecting on Resurrection Sunday…Easter.  God’s eternal plan to restore us so that we might reflect God’s glory.

Jesus said in John 12:27Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

This life will bring troubles and trialsJob 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.  But be of good cheer.

I heard this verse in a sermon while preparing for this lesson… Psalms 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.   “I will deliver thee.”  1. At what time He sees best. 2. In what way He sees best. 3. By what means He sees best. THE GRATEFUL RETURNS REQUIRED. “And thou shalt glorify Me.”

What an amazing truth: God uses me and you to open hungry eyes to recognize His presence all around – to glorify Him – to make His presence known.

Thank you for helping NTCP so we might “Reflect His Glory” from the biggest cities to the most remote rural community, that together we might shine The Light in this world of darkness.

Let us glorify our Lord together until He comes!  And make a difference in our town.
